Mr Ducie (41), with an address at Lambertstown Manor, Kilmessan, Co Meath, was charged with assault causing harm to his partner Elaine Buggle at the same address on January 14.

However, the case was struck out by Judge John Coughlan at the Trim District Court yesterday after Garda Supt Mary Gormley testified that the plaintiff wished to have the charge struck out with liberty to re-enter.

During his first court appearance in January Mr Ducie was granted bail on a €1,000 bond on condition that he have no contact "of any kind" with Ms Buggle.

However, she accompanied him to court during another court appearance last month and was seen walking with him arm-in-arm to the courthouse.

Prior to his relationship with Ms Buggle, he had a long-term relationship with accountant Ann Corcoran.

The couple were well known on Dublin's nightclub circuit and were also acquaintances of the late model Katy French (24), who died of a cocaine overdose at Our Lady's Hospital in Navan in 2007.
