A 22-YEAR-OLD man has been found guilty of the murder of a Brazilian man in a Co Kerry bog over three years ago.
John Paul Cawley of Ardoughter, Ballyduff, Co Kerry had denied the murder of Bruno Lemes de Sousa (28) at Shronowen Bog, Listowel between February 16th and 17th, 2012.
He told gardai he had knifed the victim once in the stomach but felt bad about it afterwards.
His defence team said he had been under the influence of Brazilian national Wenio Rodrigues da Silva (31) - the former partner of Cawley's sister, Sandra - who is currently serving a life sentence for the murder.
A jury at the Central Criminal Court in Tralee rejected an option of finding Cawley not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter due to diminished responsibility.
His defence team had brought in expert witness who testified that he was functioning intellectually in a range between mild mental handicap and normal.
