Burglary victim faces charges
A businessman has been charged with assault causing harm after a burglary at his home.
The Director of Public Prosecutions directed that the 46-year-old be charged with endangerment and assault causing harm.
Martin McCaughey, of Mount Avenue, Dundalk, appeared before the local court accused of the offences at Clann Chulain Park on June 27, 2008. The charges follow a burglary at his home on the same date.
His solicitor James McGuill said there was concern over the delay in starting the prosecution with a case arising from the background dealt with in the Circuit Court two weeks ago. He asked that an adjournment be for the minimum period for the service of the book of evidence.
The judge remanded the accused on continuing bail and extended time for the service of the book to March 24.
