Briton in High Court wanted in connection with murder sentence

A 62-year-old man convicted of murder in the UK has been before the High Court here facing extradition back to the UK, where he is wanted for being unlawfully at large.

Michael Anthony Balmer was arrested here in June on foot of a European Arrest Warrant.

He had been sentenced to life in prison for murder in the UK but was later released on licence and travelled to Ireland. British authorities are now seeking his return.

Mr Justice John Edwards remanded him in custody to appear before him again on July 30.
