Artist sues salon over hair loss after colouring
AN artist's hair fell out as a result of undergoing a colouring treatment at a hairdressing salon, the High Court heard yesterday, writes Aodhan O'Faolain.
Painter Aileen Dunleavy, of Salthill, Galway, who has brought a claim for damages against Swanpark Ltd, trading as the Hair Republic with an address at Unit 6, Westside Shopping Centre in Galway City, claims her hair was damaged and subsequently all fell out after she had her hair coloured in March 2007.
While her hair has since grown back, she claims she suffered personal injury, loss, and that the incident adversely affected both her working and social life.
The defendant pleads contributory negligence.
It further claims that Ms Dunleavy contributed to her own injuries by insisting on having the treatment carried out on March 28, four weeks after she had a similar colouring procedure applied.
The action will resume early next week.
