Accused in rugby coach burglary is remanded

A MAN charged in connection with the burglary of Leinster Rugby coach Joe Schmidt's house last month has been remanded on bail.

Fergus Donegan (44), with an address at Nutgrove Crescent, Rathfarnham, was charged with burglary of a house in Braemor Park, Churchtown, and possession of black leather gloves and a torch for use in theft at an address at Orwell Court, Churchtown, on December 9, 2012.

The alleged burglary happened while Mr Schimdt was away with Leinster playing Clermont Auvergne in the Heinken Cup.

Mr Donegan appeared before Judge John Coughlan in Tallaght District Court.

Judge Coughlan remanded Mr Donegan on bail until February 4.
