AN accountant and part-time lecturer drunkenly tried to assault a garda after he was woken up in a taxi.
Terrence Lawless (29), pictured, said he was mortified by his behaviour, and he has no recollection of the incident.
The defendant, of Weaver's Hall, Clonsilla, Dublin, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to public drunkenness and threatening and abusive behaviour.
Garda Sergeant Maria Callaghan said gardai were flagged down by a taxi driver who couldn't wake up a passenger.
Lawless was drunk and verbally abusive and he tried to assault an officer.
The court heard he has never been in trouble before.
Judge Hugh O'Donnell ordered Lawless to donate €600 to the Laura Lynn Hospice and struck out the charges, leaving him without a conviction.
