Courtown tragedy: SUV in fatal collision was stolen

Gardai have confirmed that a car involved in a fatal collision at the weekend had been stolen.

A 19-year-old man lost his life when the SUV struck a wall at Courtown Harbour, Co Wexford, on Friday night and plunged into the water.

Two others managed to free themselves from the vehicle and swam to safety but Mark Farrell (19), from Cushlawn estate, Tallaght, became trapped. His body was discovered later by the Coastguard and the RNLI.

Gardai said last night that the SUV had been stolen from a local caravan park.

Mr Farrell had been holidaying in the seaside town at the time.
