A COUNCIL worker who died after he was struck by a falling pole has been named as father-of-three Michael O'Donovan.
Mr O'Donovan (45), from Aghabullogue, Co Cork, was employed as a general operative with Cork County Council and was working at a water services site at Carr's Hill, Douglas, Co Cork, last Friday when the incident occurred.
It is understood he was among a number of workers clearing a ditch when a JCB may have accidentally up-ended a telegraph pole, which fell on him. Mr O'Donovan was taken to Cork University Hospital (CUH) where he was pronounced dead.
The gardai, Health and Safety Authority (HSA) and Cork County Council have launched separate investigations.
