THE family of a council worker who died after being struck by a car during roadworks have described him as a "complete gentleman" who always "had a smile on his face".

Kevin O'Sullivan (59), who had been working for Kildare County Council for 22 years, died in Naas General Hospital on Wednesday.

Mr O'Sullivan, originally from Dodsboro in Lucan but living in Celbridge, Co Kildare, was on point duty directing traffic on the Maynooth/Rathcoffey Road when he was struck by a car around 3pm.

His niece, Sharon O'Sullivan, on behalf of the family, paid tribute to him as a "much-loved father and brother".

He is mourned by Liz, his daughter Lorna who he "absolutely idolised", and a wide circle of relations and friends.

"He was one of 10 kids – six brothers and three sisters and they were all very close," his niece said.
