Council worker dies after being hit by car at roadworks

GARDAI are investigating after a worker was killed yesterday afternoon when hit by a car at roadworks.

The council worker, who has not yet been named, was an employee of Kildare County Council

The 59-year-old was working at Graiguesallagh, Maynooth at approximately 3pm yesterday afternoon when the collision occurred.

He was taken to Naas General Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

“Any person who may have witnessed this collision is asked t contact Maynooth Garda Station on 01-6292380, the Garda Confidential Line 1-800-666-111 or any Garda Station,” a garda spokesman said.
