A CIVIL case is being taken against Galway City Council over an explosion at its headquarters two years ago.
The case is being taken by an individual who is unhappy with the findings of the council's report on the incident.
The council was due to release the report next Monday, but this has been stalled.
City Manager Joe O'Neill told councillors: "While there will not be any proceedings taken under health and safety legislation, a civil case has been taken against the council."
The move follows the decision by the Director of Public Prosecutions not to prosecute in relation to the explosion which partially destroyed the City Hall in Galway in 2010.
An investigation was carried out by the Health and Safety Authority, but it decided not to pursue the matter.
