GARDAI investigating a double fatal shooting in a guesthouse will now prepare a report for a coroner's inquest.
Officers are completing their inquiries into the deaths of John Deegan (51) and mother-of-six Deirdre Keenan (51) at a bed and breakfast in Carlow.
Officers have yet to interview some members of their families and friends as they try to establish the background to the tragedy.
Mr Deegan, from Lumcloon, Cloghan, near Birr, Co Offaly, had been on medication for depression.
Gardai are satisfied he used his own legally held shotgun to kill Ms Keenan, who is from Naas, Co Kildare, and then turned the gun on himself.
Their bodies were discovered at 1.30pm on Monday and both had been shot in the head.
Mr Deegan's family were gathered last night at his brother Roger's house at Cadamstown, Co Offaly. They declined to comment on the tragedy.
Mr Deegan's funeral will be held after Mass at St Flannan's church in Kinnity, Co Offaly, tomorrow morning.
