'Coping class' hit with extra €2,000 in tax

THE Troika may have finally left town, but the so-called 'coping class' will continue to bear the brunt of austerity as it is hit with a swathe of crippling new taxes and charges. Middle-income families will have to fork out up to €2,000 more this year as they are hit by a dizzying array of hidden stealth taxes and prices hikes.

The Sunday Independent today reveals the full 21 new tax hikes, levies and cost of living increases that will hit householders from this month as the first demands for bigger payments drop through their letterboxes.
