Competitors run a muck in charity race
FIVE hundred participants, including a competitor pictured above, got down and dirty for the 'Run A Muck' charity challenge at the weekend.
The fourth annual mud-caked race to raise funds for the Niall Mellon Township Trust in South Africa had runners negotiating rivers, scaling walls and climbing obstacles over a 4.5km course at Clonkeeran House, Co Kildare.
Participants raised ¿40,000 for the charity which builds homes in the impoverished townships in South Africa.
Billed as "the muckiest, messiest, most fun way to help", people paid ¿50 to take part, the proceeds of which go toward the charity.
