A JUDGE has refused to compensate the owner of a head shop that was robbed of nearly €5,000 of legal highs.

Judge Kevin Kilrane adjourned the case concerning two men who stole the substances that mimic the effect of hash, cocaine and ecstasy so that their behaviour can be monitored over the next six months.

He said the theft was "extremely" serious.

"However, compensation to the head-shop owner is not appropriate," the judge added.

Donegal District Court heard that on February 14, Conor Goodway (23) of Ratheeny, West Laghey, and Matthew Tysall (25) of Doonan, Donegal town, broke a window in the Yutopia shop in Donegal town centre. Both pleaded guilty to the theft.
