Commuters get free ride

Thousands of commuters got a free lift into work yesterday morning following a glitch on Dublin Bus.
A technical problem with the computerised Wayfarer fare box meant that drivers were unable to issue receipts to passengers.
So Dublin Bus allowed passengers to board the bus for free on a number of routes operating from the Ringsend and Donnybrook depots.
Operations manager Donal Keating said less than 50 buses were affected, but he was unable to give an exact count.
The fare boxes were being rebooted yesterday.
