A break-in at Dublin's Bayside station last night resulted in its temporary closure this morning.

Gardai investigating the incident sealed off the scene for further examination.

Bayside runs both DART and train services and early commuters to the station had to find alternative routes of transport.

Morning travellers were advised to attend either Howth Junction or Sutton train station.

A spokesperson for Irish Rail tweeted: "Bayside station now open to customers after earlier closure at the request of the Gardai"

It is believed that a number of youths vandalised the station after breaking in.
