IT seems that comedian Brendan Grace doesn't share the same opinion as actor Gabriel Byrne about The Gathering.
US-based Grace (pictured), who divides his time between Florida and Clare, has insisted that he'll be making a big effort to get involved in the initiative in 2013.
It comes after Byrne criticised the year-long celebration, where the country's diaspora are invited to come back home for a visit.
Byrne, who previously served as a cultural ambassador to the US, described the campaign as "a scam".
But funnyman Grace has expressed his support for the campaign.
"I'll be doing a Gathering of my own clan and people that I know. I've a few ideas up my sleeve," he said.
"It'll be a gathering of Graces and if I can, my mother's side of the family. My father's from Wicklow, my mother's family are from Wexford and I was born in Dublin."
The stand-up was speaking to Norah Owen on TV3's 'Midweek' last night.
