Comedian Hal Roche dies aged 82

THE death has been announced of comedian Hal Roche. The Waterford born funnyman died this morning at the age of 84.

Roche was best known for his 26 year residency at Jury's Cabaret, Jury's Hotel Ballsbridge in Dublin where he held the Guinness world record for the longest running engagement of a comic.

He was known for his catchphrase: "Write it down, it's a good one!" He was part of the popualar Irish comedy circuit of the late 70’s and 80;s which included comedian Frank Carson who died last week.
