Coast guard recover body from sea off Clare coast

The body of a man has been recovered from the sea off the coast of County Clare.

Teams from Doolin Coast Guard had been searching for the man after he was seen falling from the Cliffs of Moher on Monday evening.

Gardaí confirmed that a post-mortem is due to be carried out last today at University Hospital Limerick.

The man was seen going into the water from the Cliffs of Moher on Monday evening but rescue teams were unable to locate the man and the search was stood down until yesterday morning due to bad weather.

At around 6.20pm yesterday the coast guard unit managed to recovery the body which was taken to University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination.

The Shannon based search and rescue helicopter, Rescue 115, was also involved in the recovery operation.
