Club patrons quizzed in assault probe
Gardai are interviewing patrons of a Dublin nightclub in a bid to establish the circumstances of an alleged assault by an Irish soccer star on another man at the weekend.
Officers have interviewed a number of people who said they witnessed the attack at Buck Whaley's in Leeson Street.
Others have yet to be traced, and gardai say their inquiries are at an early stage.
The alleged incident occurred several hours after the international between Ireland and the Faroe Islands at the Aviva stadium. The star, alleged to have been involved in the assault, did not take part in the game.
Gardai were not aware of the attack until the victim lodged a formal complaint at Pearse Street station on Sunday.
