OWNERS of a circus that is performing in north Dublin have denied that two camels seen on the side of the road earlier today had 'escaped'.
Pictures of the camels grazing along the roadside in Finglas were posted onto social networking sites earlier today, along with suggestions that they had 'escaped'.
AA Roadwatch subsequently tweeted that the camels had been "recaptured" by gardai.
However, the owners of the Royal Russian Circus have insisted that the two camels were grazing in a field near a busy road - and had simply wandered onto a raised part of the field that was visible from the road.
And the Garda Press Office has confirmed that while its traffic cameras had pictured the camels in a field for a short time earlier today, they had not been on the road or been a danger to traffic.
The press office added that gardai had taken no action.
