'Churches ignore youth' -- Martin
ARCHBISHOP of Dublin Dr Diarmuid Martin has called for a radical overhaul of religious education to reach out to young people.
He said religious congregations in schools and church-run youth groups had failed to establish "real dialogue" with young people about faith issues.
Addressing a gathering of young Christian leaders at Archbishop's House in Dublin last night, Dr Martin said: "The first thing that leads to the alienation of young people from their churches is that the churches do not listen enough to young people.
"The leaders have very often lost the art of listening to young people."
