Philanthropist Niall Mellon is selling his countryside mansion for a fraction of what he paid for it in the boom -- because he can't afford it any more.
Mr Mellon last night confirmed he paid €6.25m for Coolmore House, in Thomastown, Kilkenny, in 2004.
But the developer is now selling the beautiful Georgian house set on 242 acres for €3.75m. The estate comes complete with its own helipad.
Mr Mellon is high-profile for his work in building houses for the poor in South Africa.
