Carey puts on brave face at launch of website for new boss
HURLING legend DJ Carey put on a brave face as he helped launch a website for the company that bought his liquidated business.
Western Hygiene Supplies bought the remains of Mr Carey's cleaning business just days before the company was put into liquidation last February.
But it kept the hurling legend on in an effort to hold on to his loyal customer base.
Since then, Mr Carey's finances have deteriorated further. Earlier this month, the former Kilkenny hurler and his partner Sarah Newman were ordered by the courts to repay €9.5m owed to AIB for property loans.
But it hasn't stopped Mr Carey carrying on the day job.
He has made the transition from owner to employee in his new job as area sales manager for Western Hygiene.
He joined new boss Kevin Collins, the owner of Western Hygiene, to launch a new website and Facebook fan page for the business.
The Tuam, Co Galway, based firm gained 3,000 new customers in Kilkenny and Dublin when it took on Mr Carey's business.
