Car dealer evaded tax on SUVs

A CAR dealer has pleaded guilty to evading tax on high-end SUVs.

Lee Cullen (40) originally faced trial on 21 charges but the Director of Public Prosecution accepted pleas to seven counts and told Judge Patricia Ryan at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court that a jury was not required.

Cullen of Starwood, Coolmine, Saggart, pleaded guilty to evading Vehicle Registration Tax on seven Range Rovers at the Vehicle Registration Office, Main Street, Tallaght, between February 13, 2006, and March 29, 2007.

Cullen's defence team asked for a six-month adjournment to allow him make repayments to the State. He was remanded on continuing bail until sentencing on July 15, 2013.
