Capital to get 120 hi-tech jobs
MORE than 120 hi-tech jobs will be created in Dublin over the next three years.
Enterprise Minister Richard Bruton will today announce 125 jobs at IDA-backed cloud computing company, Marketo.
The Californian company said its software aims to help firms "harness the new ways customers buy as a result of the growth of the internet, search and social media".
Mr Bruton said the cloud computing industry in Ireland could employ 8,600 people and be worth €9.5bn by 2014.
President and CEO of Marketo, Phil Fernandez, said the company selected Ireland because it needed a European hub with a large talent pool.
But the jobs boost comes as 52 agency nurses and midwives face the axe at two of the country's busiest hospitals, Cork University Hospital and Cork University Maternity Hospital, on Wednesday.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation is fighting the job cuts and last night urged management to meet this morning to discuss the decision.
