CLOSE to €1m worth of cannabis and cannabis resin has been seized by gardai in separate raids.

Gardai from the Cavan District Crime Unit raided a house at Swellan Park in Cavan at 7.45pm last night and seized plants with an estimated street value of €250,000. A 42-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is being held for questioning at Cavan garda station.

Hours earlier, another 42-year-old man was arrested following the discovery of a cannabis grow operation inside a house in Co Wexford. Gardai from the Divisional Drugs Unit swooped on the house in Screen yesterday afternoon. The plants, also worth about €250,000, were seized.

The suspect, meanwhile, is being held for questioning at Enniscorthy garda station under drug trafficking laws.

Meanwhile, gardai found up to €400,000 worth of cannabis hidden in a ditch at Ballyhahill, Co Limerick. The search was part of ongoing operations in the region targeting drug dealing. No arrests have been made.
