Campervan owner fined for 'blocking traffic in empty carpark'

A CAMPERVAN owner is fuming after being fined for causing an obstruction – in an empty carpark.

Mark Holloway and his family had been touring Co Donegal in their motorised home recently. The GP and his family from Northern Ireland then decided to visit Bundoran on a Sunday morning for a day trip.

Mr Holloway found an empty car park at Atlantic Way and paid the €3 charge and went with his family to enjoy themselves – but when he returned he had been slapped with a €40 fine for obstructing other traffic.

He sought out the traffic warden and explained his situation.

However, he was told: "It is not up to the county council to provide you with parking."

Mr Holloway decided he would approach Bundoran Town Council directly but has still not received any satisfaction.

"I wouldn't mind if it was really busy and we were causing an obstruction," he said.

"The car park was completely empty and it was Sunday morning.
