Campaign missing vital ingredient

An aspirant TD has had to withdraw from the election race -- because he forgot to register himself as a candidate in time.
Dr Marcus de Brun had his posters up all over the Dublin North constituency, pushing himself as a candidate to reform the health services.
But the Rush-based doctor let the registration deadline for candidates slip his mind.
He arrived in the county sheriff's office last Wednesday after the noon deadline -- but the embarrassing error only came to light in recent days.
The deadline was well flagged in local and national media but Dr de Brun let it pass him by.
He complained that he hadn't enough time to gather the 30 signatures needed for a nomination.
At least the election posters will do as advertisements for his clinic.
