Business booming for ski club as hundreds hit slopes
THE ski slopes in Kilternan, Co Dublin, are enjoying the "best piste" in decades, as the rest of the country grinds to a halt.
Over 200 skiers and snow-boarders are enjoying the snowy conditions every day -- double the usual number.
And many are seasoned skiers from countries like Poland, Slovakia and Germany, who have made Ireland their home.
"It's definitely boom time here," said Rosemary Mayrhuber, trustee of Kilternan's Ski Club.
"The slopes are being kept busy," she said. "We have also extended our opening hours for afternoon sessions between two and five." The slopes are also open between 7.30pm and 10.30pm.
Despite the road conditions, many people are using buses and four-wheel-drives to reach the slopes.
"While the rest of the country is waiting to see an end to the cold spell, we snow sport enthusiasts are all heading for the slopes at the Ski Club," Ms Mayrhuber added.
