DETECTIVES on both sides of the Border have launched a joint investigation into a gang behind a series of arson attacks on premises formerly owned by Sean Quinn after another incident early today.
A 52-seater bus was set on fire in front of three businesses in Ballyconnell, Co Cavan, at 5am.
A sign reading: “Paul O’Brien. Disaster Tours. Leaving Soon” was attached to the vehicle. Paul O’Brien is now chief executive of the Quinn Group.
Gardai say no damage was caused to the businesses which included Quinn Therm. A number of tyres had been placed inside the bus.
Mr O’Brien’s BMW car was torched in an attack in August 2011 after he was appointed chief executive of the Quinn businesses by the receivers.
Gardai and PSNI detectives are working to catch the gang behind a series of attacks. In December a fuel tanker was set on fire at the former Quinn Group headquarters just in Fermanagh, just over a mile from this morning’s incident.
The Quinn family had condemned the attacks, calling on those responsible to cease.
