THE nephew of a pensioner who died weeks after she was injured during a vicious burglary has blamed her attackers for her death.
Suzi Arthur (89) died at Letterkenny General Hospital in Co Donegal three months after she was thrown to the ground by a gang in July.
Suzi broke her hip and never walked again.
Now her nephew Joe McKean says those who broke into Suzi's home in Feddyglass, Raphoe, are responsible for her death. "I hope they spent the few euro they got from her well because it cost Suzi her life.
"I hope they can live with their conscience after what they did and how they treated Suzi and her sister Isa," he said.
Joe, who regularly calls in on the elderly sisters, was on the scene within minutes of their horrific ordeal.
The dead woman's sister Isa (91) was still in shock at the home they shared last night and was too traumatised to talk about her sister's passing.
Local county councillor Frank McBrearty has called for the full rigours of the law to be used to track down the gang responsible. It is believed the three-man gang were driving a Northern Ireland-registered blue Ford Focus.
"The time for talking has ended. . . It can no longer be acceptable that culprits can just skip across the Border after they terrorise people in their homes and rob them," Mr McBrearty said.
