Burglaries have increased by almost 8pc in the year ending September, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office.
The increase is being tackled by a nationwide garda operation, codenamed Fiacla, which has been under way since February.
The annualised figures also indicate a rise of over 6pc in fraud and deception.
But all other groups recorded a drop in offences in the 12-month period.
However, while homicides are down overall as a result of a decrease in dangerous driving causing death, the number of murders and manslaughters jumped by three to 55.
Attempted murders and assaults are down by 9.5pc, public order by 12pc and weapons and explosive offences by 17pc.
