Burger King launches probe 'as precaution'
BURGER King is carrying out a full investigation into the horse meat contamination scandal at the factory which produces its Irish burgers, writes Aideen Sheehan.
The fast-food chain said this was precautionary as it is confident its burgers are not affected because they are made on a different line and do not use the imported ingredient believed to be the source of the problem.
ABP, which owns the Silvercrest factory where repeated tests have found horse DNA present in supermarket burgers, confirmed it was temporarily closing down the entire plant.
However, it said doing so was expedient while sanitation work was going on and there was no evidence of contamination on its separate Burger King production line.
