A 40-FOOT articulated lorry became lodged under a bridge – leading to traffic and rail disruption.

The drama began shortly after 4pm when the driver underestimated the size of his rig and got stuck under the bridge at Amiens Street in Dublin.

Staff at Iarnrod Eireann reported hearing a loud bang, while onlookers said the driver attempted to back up to dislodge the vehicle, causing the engine to seize up.

Gardai from Store Street helped free the truck from under the bridge after jump-starting the engine shortly after 5pm. They are investigating the incident, which brought rush-hour traffic to a standstill.
