Brian to raise Yuletide glass for first time in years
RUGBY legend Brian O'Driscoll (right) will be celebrating this Christmas with his first glass of festive wine in more than a decade.
The Irish and Leinster skipper revealed he intends to savour a glass of vino with his Christmas dinner this year for the first time in 12 years.
"That's going to be so novel," he said.
Mr O'Driscoll is usually forced to stick closely to a training diet, even over the Christmas period.
He normally turns out for Leinster in festive fixtures, which traditionally involve the other Irish provinces.
But he is currently out of action for six months as he recovers from a shoulder injury.
Along with acting as Leinster's occasional waterboy for the time being, he is currently decorating the house he shares with his actress wife Amy Huberman.
He admitted in an interview on Newstalk radio that he appreciated "cheesy" decorations and the most gaudy Christmas bling possible.
"I'm not a colour-coordinator. It's about as much as you can, tinsel and all sorts. We're going to wrap that up the stairs and it's all '80s cheese."
