ONE in two babies born in Ireland are now breastfed from birth -- up from one in three in 2000.
And as national breastfeeding week gets under way (until Friday October 7), experts are calling for greater supports for women who breastfeed their babies beyond three months.
TV personality and new mum Pamela Flood launched breastfeeding week with a group of mothers and babies in Dublin yesterday.
This year the emphasis is on portraying breastfeeding when out and about as a normal, natural part of daily life.
