Brave Emma (10) who launched CD to raise funds for hospital, loses cancer battle

A COURAGOUS little girl who raised over €11,000 for a children’s hospital that treated her, lost her battle against a rare children’s cancer this morning.

Emma McCarron (11) from Co Monaghan was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma when she was just seven-years-old.

Despite undergoing gruelling treatment including chemotherapy, surgery, bone marrow transplant and radiotherapy, Emma recorded ‘A Lighter Heart’ last November and dedicated it to the staff who cared for her and other children struggling with illness.

She died this morning surrounded by her family – her parents Francis and Linda, her sister Ally (7) and brother Ethan (5).

Emma’s recording raised over €11,000 for Our Lady’s Hospital, Crumlin, one of the leading European hospitals for the treatment of childhood cancer.

The fifth class pupil appeared on the John Murray Show on RTE Radio singing a song from her CD which is on sale for €5.
