A TEENAGE boy has died in hospital after being shot in the head with a licensed rifle in a tragedy at home.
The boy was critically ill when he was rushed to Tallaght Hospital after he was found by his mother at their home at Woodford, Clondalkin, in west Dublin, on Tuesday night.
He died from his wounds in hospital early yesterday.
He had taken the rifle from the attic of the house to practise for a legitimate gun competition at the weekend.
Gardai said last night they were treating the incident as a personal tragedy.
Meanwhile, gardai are also investigating the death of a 25-year-old who was found dead in a shed at the rear of his house at Carrick on Bannow, Wellingtonbridge, Co Wexford. Officers said foul play was not suspected.
