A six-year-old boy has been seriously injured after he was hit by a bus.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the accident which happened on the Bantry Road at Tonafora, Dunmanway, Co Cork, at 4pm.

He was taken from the scene by Ambulance to Cork University Hospital.

"The road is currently partially closed to traffic and Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested to examine the scene," said a Garda spokesman.
