Boy (10) in hospital after hit-and-run

GARDAI were hoping a piece of broken bumper may be the key to identifying a car involved in a hit-and-run that left a 10-year-old boy in hospital yesterday.

The victim was in a serious condition last night after being struck by the vehicle which sped from the scene. Gardai have appealed for witnesses to the incident, which occurred in the Dublin suburb of Cabra.

The boy was rushed to Temple Street Hospital where he was treated for his injuries but remained in a serious condition last night. He was hit at the junction of St Eithne Road and Fassaugh Road at about 5.40pm.

Gardai have described the vehicle as being silver in colour. The scene underwent technical examination last night. A piece of bumper and other debris were visible in the centre of the road.

Anyone with any information should contact Cabra garda station on 01-666 7400 or the Garda Confidential line at 1800-666-111.
