OLYMPIC medallist John Joe Nevin has been released from hospital following a vicious assault, which left him with two broken legs.
The 24-year-old boxer was released from the Midlands Regional Hospital yesterday, and will be temporarily confined to a wheelchair.
He thanked his fans and management team for the support he received in the aftermath of the shocking attack outside his Mullingar home last Saturday morning.
"I'm happy to be leaving hospital and I'm looking forward to putting this unfortunate part of my life behind me and getting better," he said.
It is understood that the father-of-one was beaten with a golf club.
