WORKERS at Boston Scientific have contributed €1m to the Galway Hospice Foundation.
The employees have contributed funds to the local hospice since 1997 though the Hospice's weekly draw, hitting the €1m mark this month.
The money used has been used by Galway Hospice to fund its day care and home care services to patients.
Welcoming the vital funds, Sean O’Healy, CEO of the Galway Hospice called upon other major employers in Galway to consider facilitating the Staff Payroll Deduction Scheme for the Weekly Draw.
“Galway Hospice, and the patients for whom we care, need your support now, more than ever. Due to the ever-increasing demand on services, we are appealing to the major employers in Galway to facilitate a Staff Payroll Deduction Scheme for the Galway Hospice Weekly Draw. It is simple to set-up the scheme and simple to join.”
Mike O'Flynn, Managing Director and VP Operations for Boston Scientific praised the work done by Galway Hospice, adding; “The Weekly Draw is a major source of income for the Hospice and we are delighted to support it. The team at Galway Hospice provide excellent care in homes every day, throughout Galway city and county. The contributions by our employees collectively ensure that Foundations as essential as The Galway Hospice are able to continue providing such an important service.”
