A PREDICTED boom in the film industry could create up to 5,000 new jobs in Ireland.
Industry experts have forecasted thousands of new jobs in both film and TV production in the next five years.
The prediction follows news that 'Vikings', a mini-series which yesterday shipped out of Ireland after an 18-week long shoot, has injected €20m into the economy.
But CEO of the Irish Film Board, James Hickey, said if more such projects followed, it would lead to thousands of new jobs in the industry.
"The increasing levels of film and TV production in Ireland could, if sustained, create over 5,000 new full-time equivalent jobs over the next five years," he said.
