Bomb squad investigates suspicious device left at Dublin home

THE army bomb squad has dealt with a suspicious device that was left on a wall in Firhouse in Dublin after shots were fired at a house.

The incident happened shortly after 10pm last night.

Gardai first received a report that shots were fired at the house on Glencarrig Drive and when they went to investigate they found the suspicious device on a garden wall at the address.

The bomb squad were called in and a number of homes on the street were evacuated while they assessed the pipe bomb.

The package was deemed to be a hoax but was handed to gardai to assist them in their investigations.

There were no reports of injuries in the attack and no arrests have yet been made.
