Body of woman discovered by gardai searching for Anne Shortall

A MURDER investigation is expected to be launched after the body of a woman was discovered this afternoon.
Gardai searching for missing woman Anne Shortall made the grim discovery in a workshop in the back of property in the Killoughther area near Newscatle, Co Wicklow.
A 38-year-old man has been arrested.
Ms Shortall was last seen on Friday last at around 3.55pm in Leitrim Place, Wicklow Town.
A body was found by gardai shortly after 1pm and is believed to be under a tarp in the shed.
Forensic investigators arrived on the scene shortly before 5pm, and the area has been sealed off.
"The Wicklow Coroner and the State Pathologists office have been notified," said a Garda spokesman.
"Professor Marie Cassidy is expected at the scene later this afternoon.
"A 38-year-old man was arrested this afternoon in Co Wicklow in connection with this investigation and is currently detained at Wicklow Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984."
It's believed that the woman did not die at the scene where her body was found.

More than 100 people had earlier turned up at Wicklow Garda Station to help with the search for the missing woman.
Gardai joined family, friends and members of the coastguard and Civil Defence to the area.
Superintendent Paul Hogan thanked everyone for their cooperation.
"Our thoughts and prayers are now with the Shortall family," he added.
