A body has been located at the home of a missing woman in Portarlington, Co Offaly.

The remains are believed to be those of the missing Carmel Tynan(54), who was last seen near her home at Patricks Avenue in Portarlington  on Sunday morning.

A major search involving gardai and over a hundred volunteers had been taking place in the town for the popular mother-of-three.

It's understood the body was found behind clothing in what was described as an "expansive" walk-in wardrobe at the house.

While investigating gardai are keeping an open mind, an initial investigation is not believed to have indicated foul play.
