Body of missing Margaret 'Mags' Berry found in woods in Galway

REMAINS found in Galway yesterday have been confirmed as those of missing woman Margaret Mags Berry.

The 35-year-old was last seen in Galway City on Wednesday, February 3. A massive Facebook appeal from friends of the young woman was immediately launched garnering more than 2,000 followers. 

Large posters were erected around the city, emblazoned with images of the young woman below the headline ‘Have you seen Mags?’ while friends pleaded with Mags to get in touch.

Yesterday afternoon at 3.30pm the body of a woman was found in Merlin Woods during a search for Mags.

"The body of Margaret (Mags) Berry was discovered in Galway yesterday," a garda spokesperson said.

"This incident is being treated as a personal tragedy. No further action is required. We wish to thank you for your assistance in this matter."

Friends of Ms Berry have taken to facebook to pay their respects to the young woman.

Describing her as a “beautiful free spirit”, one friend added; “I wish I had a  chance to see her, she was such a lovely girl always so friendly I would always feel so relaxed and at ease around her.”
